Tracy’s Story

Tracy (pictured right) works for PumpHouse Designs in Battle, which provide architectural services and work closely with The Park Lane Group in the design of our new homes. On June 15th she will be taking part in the 10k Hastings Race for Life. Her story, below, is compelling and The Park Lane are pleased to support such a brave lady with a donation of £250.
In October 2013, aged just 37 and after becoming very unwell Tracy was given the devastating news that she had a cancerous tumour. It was a terrible shock. Many people think it will never happen to them but statistics show that cancer affects 1 in 3 of us in our lifetime.
To remove the tumour and save Tracy’s life she had to undergo extensive surgery followed by six weeks of intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment. According to Tracy “The staff and consultants at the Sussex Cancer Centre in Brighton have been fantastic with my care and helped keep me and other cancer sufferers positive through tough times.”
One particular low point in Tracy’s treatment was an allergic reaction to the chemotherapy drug on her third session, leading to another hospital stay. However, Tracy put up a strong fight and with the support of friends and family around her, she strived to remain positive throughout her treatment. Thankfully, after six months of treatment, Tracy has been given the “All Clear”. She will remain an outpatient and continue to have regular check-ups for the foreseeable future.
After such a traumatic time, Tracy has decided to take part in the Hastings Race for Life and will be walking the 10k course on June 15th with a group of friends to raise awareness. This was an item on her bucket list when first diagnosed.
