Rookie Banger Racers

Intrepid father and son, Russell and Oliver Beswick, made their debut appearance as ‘rookie’ banger racing drivers on the 7th June to take part in a Park Lane Group-sponsored race meeting at Arlington Stadium near Eastbourne.

With two Park Lane Group-branded motors, courtesy of ‘Cecil’s Rent-A-Rookie’, they revved up in readiness and a loyal group of supporters watched in anticipation.

Being a full contact race, the atmosphere was tense at the side of the track as the drivers lined up on the grid. But alas, the race started and ended quickly for The Park Lane Group, with Russell brutally spun out of action by an experienced racer on the first bend. Oliver meanwhile clung to his wits and, well, any nearby metal, to complete two laps before he was also knocked out of contention.
