Charity: PLG Supports Mankind in The Thames Path Challenge
ManKind is based in Eastbourne and provides mental health support for men.
It’s a topic that’s close to our hearts. On average, two men working in the building/construction sector commit suicide every day, whilst 75% of all suicide victims are men.
Julie is aiming to complete as much of the 100km ultra as she can within two days to fundraise for ManKind.
In turn, they will use all funds raised to provide appropriate mental health support for the men in their group. Currently, six men are receiving counselling and as many as 70+ have benefitted from their weekly meet-ups since forming in January 2020.
Building awareness of them is just as important as fundraising however, so do please share this post.

The group meet via Zoom every Wednesday from 6.30 – 8.30pm with additional support via a WhatsApp Group. They attract like-minded men from a variety of backgrounds who are able to support each other and get the help they need in a safe environment.
ManKind have also formed a strong link with The Old Bank Wellbeing Trust in Eastbourne who are able to offer additional professional help and counselling if needed.
Thank you for reading about them and good luck Julie for your challenge in September.
