Charity: Six Runs in Six Months for St. Michael’s Hospice

Oliver Beswick 6 Runs in 6 Months

Earlier this year, Oliver Beswick decided to commit to a huge personal challenge. He pledged to run six major runs in six months for St. Michael’s Hospice – Hastings and Rother.

With four runs under his belt (and trainers) he’s making great progress. His first run and first half marathon ever, was the Tunbridge Wells Half on Sunday 19th February. It was followed by the Hastings Half Marathon; a tough and hilly course on a fresh-feeling Sunday 26th March. Then came the Battersea Half Marathon on May 13th, plus a 9-mile run in the New Forest. The latter flat runs presenting a different running challenge to the former hillier courses.

According to Oliver, “It has been both a physical and mental challenge as the longest run I had done before was 6 miles. Maintaining the level of training needed has been very testing but family and friends and helped me hugely along the way and it has been so worth it for such a great cause.”

Oliver was motivated to take up this challenge by the loss of three family members to cancer. Both The Park Lane Group and the Beswick family are ongoing supporters of the Hospice.

Oliver added, “The care and compassion The Hospice provides is amazing. And it has made the final moments of some of my family members the best they could be. For that I want to thank them by raising as much money as possible so that they can continue to support other people and families in need.

“I’m hugely grateful to my father and Chief Executive of The Park Lane Group, Russell Beswick, for being my main sponsor and to everyone who is donating. Please continue to do so as I push on with two more runs to get this done.”
