Best Foot Forward
Watch how an intrepid team braved a walk across burning coals for The JPK Project this weekend to raise money for the charity.
With sponsorship from The Park Lane Group and many others, the fearless troop focused their minds in a 2-hr preparation session ahead of the Firewalk itself which took place on Saturday night at The Berwick Inn in Arlington. Despite being a dark, windy night nearly 30 participants turned out along with many more supporters.
Eastbourne’s Pentacle Drummers led everyone to the fire and created a fantastic atmosphere as it was prepared raked over ready for everyone to walk across.
The JPK Project
The JPK Project is an Eastbourne-based charity which aims to develop a Supported Living Centre for individuals with disabilities and learning difficulties.
Having bought a site on Church Street in Old Town and secured planning permission, the charity is now raising funds to commence building works.
On completion, the JPK Project Supported Living Centre will comprise:
- 16 en-suite studio apartments for young adults with a severe learning disability
- 8 semi independent flatlets
- Communal rooms, including lounge, dining room, kitchen & activity room
- Community centre, Daisy Chain charity shop, tea room, bakery & commercial kitchen
It will transform the lives of residents and day visitors, whilst also providing a new community resource, work and volunteering opportunities. The Park Lane Group are delighted to be supporting such a great cause.
